Special Edition (Finished Woods, Inset Board) with Custom Cards, Pieces, and Box

I’ve been looking for a way to offer a bundle that includes the custom cards, pieces, hexes, and more all in a compact custom wooden box.  The border always required a bigger box.  This special edition features a walnut individual hex border that allows for compact storage.  Additionally, the set includes the custom matching cards and pieces.

Each resource is represented by a different wood. For example, ore is walnut and brick is African Mahogany. Each was selected to add distinct variance between each resource.  For each set, there will be variances in the appearance of the wood that is reflective of the natural variances in wood so no two sets will look the same. The photo is reflective of the natural characteristics of each type of wood.

When I was first introduced to Catan, I played so much I quickly beat up my cardboard hexes that came with the game. This inspired me to look for a more durable set – and ultimately to make one. These sturdy tiles are made for the long haul and pay tribute to each resource hex from the game.

The custom hexes are made to work with your existing Settlers of Catan Game. The Catan-inspired standard set includes 18 hex-shaped number tokens, a 18-piece border set, a custom robber token, 9 harbor tokens, and 19 resource tiles:

• 1 desert
• 4 sheep (albeit 1 is a black sheep)
• 3 brick
• 4 wheat
• 3 ore
• 4 wood hexes

These cards are slightly larger than the cards included with your existing Catan game (they are approx. 2.2 wide by 3.4 tall). The resource cost cards are designed to match custom designs used in GameMason wooden sets. The design for the back of the resource cards is different from the development cards. Each card set consists of 154 cards as follows:

95 resource cards (19 of each resource):

• 19 brick
• 19 ore
• 19 sheep (incl. 1 black sheep)
• 19 wheat
• 19 wood

25 development cards:

• 14 knights
• 2 monopoly
• 2 road building
• 2 year of plenty
• 1 “chapel” victory card
• 1 “library” victory card

All GameMason items are sized to work with your existing Settlers of Catan game. You must own the Settlers of Catan game by Klaus Teuber in order to use and enjoy this board.

Hexes are 0.224 inches thick and have high grade appearance and are consistent in thickness. Each has an MDF core with real wood laminate on each side that is sanded smooth and finished with a clear coat to give it a high grade appearance. The back of each hex has a blue lacquer finish. There is a thickness tolerance of +/- 20%.

Also, please note that there are variances in the appearance of the wood that is reflective of the natural variances in wood – i.e. some hexes are darker, some lighter, etc.
